Blue Lagoon
Mono Lake, California
Nikon D300, Nikkor 12-24mm, F/13, 1/20s
Mono lake is unique, it has no
outlet, and its waters are naturally salty. Over the years calcium
carbonate made its way to the surface from underground springs
to create a phenomena known as tufa. Tufa (pronounced "toofah")
are the towers I photographed above. The towers became visible
when the City of Los Angeles diverted the water that flowed into
the lake.
